Patiala, November 6
Teams from the Vigilance Department and the District Health Officer conducted a joint raid at the Gopal sweets in Leela Bhawan here on Monday.
The officials collected samples of various sweet items, including two samples of ‘cham cham’ and one sample of ‘Bengali sondesh’. Officials said the teams were led by Vikas Sabharwal, Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP), Vigilance, and Dr Krishan Singh, District health officer (DHO).
Dr Krishan Singh said the collected samples were sent to the labs for testing and the reports would be received within a month.
The team from the Health Department also raided a sweets shop at Patran on Monday and collected five samples of food items, including one each of kesar ladoo, cham cham, patisa, khoya barfi and gulab jamu’.
The DHO further added, “We have collected a total of 42 samples, including milk and milk products, sweets, snacks and packaged food from shops, and food items sold on carts across the district in November. All samples when collected are sent for checking at labs.
