Sanskriti Gupta brushed aside Priyanka Khanna 6-2 7-5 to enter the girls’ U-16 quarterfinals in the ongoing Roots-AITA National Ranking Tennis Championship here today. 

In another pre-quarterfinal match, Nimrat Kaur Atwal registered a 6-1 6-1 win over Jeshna Solanki.

In the boys’ U-16 pre-quarterfinals, Akhilendran blanked Anant Goel 6-0 6-0, while Asav Kumar defeated Gurustat 6-4 6-2. Pranay Choudhury rallied from a set down to beat Samarbir Singh in a marathon three-setter. Choudhury lost the opening set 6-7(3), but bounced back to draw level with a 6-1 win in the second set. He then registered a 13-11 win in the decider to seal a spot in the quarters. Mankirat Singh was put to test by Rahul Kumar before he progressed to the quarterfinals with a 7-6(4) 6-7(5) (15-13) win. — TNS
