Chandigarh, October 28
Magnificence and distinctive style of grace of ‘Sattriya’ dance, the latest entrant to the repertoire of classical dances, was presented by Dr Anjana Moyee Saikia and troupe from Guwahati on Day five of the NZCC National Classical Dance Festival at Kalagrama here today.
The accomplished danseuses from Assam led by Dr Anjana began their performance with ‘Sadhdari Nritya’, which melted into the ‘Jhoomra’ dance and then ‘Geetor’ dance performed to background music and songs of adulation, all relating to the ‘leelas’ of Lord Krishna and Gopis. Next came ‘Rojaghoriya Chali’ dance followed by ‘Abhinaya Amrit Manthan’ and the concluding ‘Mela’ dance.
Director, NZCC, honoured Dr Anjana’s group in the presence of Kathak maestro Guru Shobha Koser and Bollywood artiste Nandita Puri. — OC
