Chandigarh: Saupin’s School, Sector 32, organised summer bonanza for students during the summer vacations on the school premises. Students attended classes in Punjabi folk dance, western dance and classical dance. It concluded with a wonderful show put by students for their parents.

Panchkula: In all, 15 students, along with Principal Gulshan Kaur and teacher Anita Ranjan, attended summer school and excursion tour at Switzerland and France, organised by the IFUNA (Indian Federation of United Nation Associations) and the WFUNA (World Federation of United Nation Associations). The students got an opportunity to visit the UN Headquarters at Geneva and attended knowledgeable sessions at various organs of the United Nations — WTO, ICRC, UNHCRC, and IMO. They were given a certification of participation by the WFUNA. The group enjoyed the scenic beauty of Switzerland and also got an opportunity to visit the CERN (Mini NASA of Europe). The tour also incorporated a visit
to Paris.
Edustar Adarsh School
Kalewal: Participating in the Punjab Government’s drive of planting more trees, sapling plantation in Edustar Adarsh School and Village Kalewal was carried out, in collaboration with ‘Yuvak Sewawan Club, Mohali.’ The club donated 130 Arjun, Gulmohar, Triveni, and Pink Cedar plants to the school. School principal thanked club director Rupinder Kaur, assistant director S Devinder Singh, forest officer S Manjit Singh and block officer S Kanwaljeet Singh for donating trees to the school.

Mani Majra: To enhance the creative skills of young artists of the school, a painting workshop was organised at the GMSSS, MHC, Mani Majra. Student members of the art club, from Classes VI and X took keen interest in learning various painting techniques and mediums. Students said they were happy to get the opportunity and it was the best way to utilise their summer vacations. Principal Rajesh Kumar told the students that art helped in improving imagination, concentration and patience. —TNS
