Carrying a child along to a women police station won’t worry mothers anymore as the UT police have come up with a child-friendly room at the women police station in Sector 17. The child-friendly room was inaugurated by UT DGP Sanjay Beniwal.
The first child-friendly room of the Chandigarh Police has all basic amenities to make children, visiting the unit, comfortable. “It intends to provide a congenial atmosphere for children who come along with their parents to the women police station for counselling,” said a police official.
Complaints of women, who have disputes with their husbands, are investigated at the women police station and many a time, the women visit the police station with their kids.
On the occasion, a play was presented by students of the AKSIPS, Chandigarh, on human trafficking. Roopak, an NGO, also presented a play, “Bhediya”, showing how to raise a voice against evils against women.
A police official said all police stations in the city would be made child-friendly.
