Panchkula, June 9

After the carjacking incident in the Sector 20 market on Tuesday night, the police have increased their presence in the area. The market has been made ‘no-stopping, no-parking’ zone to prevent any such incidents.

The police recovered the Duster vehicle, in which the accused had fled, last night from Zirakpur.

While the police are investigating the case from various angles, it is being said that the prime target of the accused was the woman. After 15 minutes, the child was recovered, who was left in Zirakpur. Two days later, the car was found abandoned.

The police are also trying to make the sketch of the accused, but have failed till now as the woman is not able to give proper description of the accused.

Identical modus operandi worries residents

An identical modus operandi has not only instilled fear among Sector 20 residents but has also put the police on their toes. Police sources said they are probing the angle that the accused could be the same as the one involved in January’s abduction and rape of a 21 year old engineering student.

Just like this case, the accused sat in a car whose engine was running and the driver had gone to a nearby shop. A woman was waiting in the car and the accused fled with the car. In this case, the woman managed to jump out of the car unlike the January incident when the victim was drugged, raped and videographed. Both cars were later recovered from the nearby localities.
