Panjab University authorities have received seven more fake certificates today. Chief Medical Officer Dr Dhawan is flooded with medical certificates by students looking to get attendance. However, certificates from private as well as civil hospitals are being received each day by the CMO.

Five of the seven fake medical certificates are from Landmark Hospital but the letter head does not even contain the address of the hospital. This is what made these certificates suspicious, according to the CMO. One certificate was received from the Civil Hospital in Mohali but it suggested 18 days of bed rest to the student for fever. Also, the medicines written were not for fever and the symptoms were written with incorrect spellings. The certificate has been sent to the Director Health Services office. In another case of cheating, a student had tried to make changes in a medical certificate. While the doctor had written ‘one’ day rest in the certificate, the student made it ‘some’ days rest. —TNS
