Chandigarh, September 1
The Students for Society (SFS) has released its manifesto with a special mention about specially-abled students. It has promised wheelchairs outside every department and tactile pavements for the visually-impaired students.
It has called for the regularisation of self-finance courses. “Since 2000, no regular course has been started by the university and the government doesn’t pay for the infrastructure, instead the burden is put on students,” read the manifesto.
It has promised an increase in the regular seats and has called for new hostels and transparency in allotment of hostel seats.
The manifesto stated: “Many departments have even-odd system for reappears. This means that if a student fails to clear an exam in odd semester (say I) then he is eligible for reappear in the next odd semester (say III). Students have to wait for a year to clear that exam.” — TNS
