Mohali, June 3  

Shweta Rathore won the Punjab State Women Chess Championship held at Zirakpur on Sunday. Rathore scored 5.5 points in six rounds to win the championship. Shweta outclassed Pearl (4.5 points) of Ludhiana in the final round. Deepanshi Sharma (5 points) of Patiala beat Pahul Chhabra (4 points) of Jalandhar, while Amritsar's Nitya Singhania (5 points) beat Amarjeet Kaur (4 points) of Bathinda. Savreen Kaur (5 points) of Sangrur beat Chahek (3.5 points) of Ludhiana in the last round.

The top-four finishers - Shweta, Nitya, Deepanshi and Savreen - will represent Punjab in the National Women Chess Championship to be held in Patna from November 8 to 23.
