Regulate coaching centres

This refers to ‘Schools running coaching classes under CBSE lens’ carried in Chandigarh Tribune dated November 13. The Tribune deserves kudos for highlighting the menace of running coaching classes on schools' premises. It's not at all in the interest of Class XI and XII students to go in for attending coaching classes at schools' premises running in connivance with various coaching institutes for getting prepared to fair well in entrance exams to get admissions in reputed engineering and medical colleges across the country. The mushrooming of such practices across all cities is the reason why students are getting misled. They are under an impression that taking admissions in such centres ensures better performance. Thus they avoid attending regular classes at schools. The CBSE or state boards, must take a stern action against such schools who allow schools to run coaching classes on their premises. Their affiliation should be cancelled. — Sanjay Chopra
