Mohali, October 15

Panic gripped residents of a locality in Phase 7 after a nearly 1.5-metre-long snake was spotted here last night.

The car owner had to call the fire brigade to get rid of the ‘unwanted guest’.

According to an eyewitness, the reptile was a common krait. “It was entering the bonnet of a car when a child saw it and raised the alarm,” a resident said.

The car owner Davinder Kumar said he first called a snake catcher, who refused to come, following which the help of the fire brigade was sought.

Fire officials caught the snake from the car bonnet by using water pressure.

In another such incident, a snake catcher’s help was sought after a black cobra was spotted inside an air-conditioner installed at an office of an under construction hospital in Mullanpur.
