Chandigarh, September 4
Earlier, the National Students Union of India (NSUI) claimed support of the Students Organisation of Panjab University (SOPU) but on Monday, the Students Organisation of India (SOI) held a press conference and said that they were supporting them.
As SOPU had put up posters claiming support from infamous gangster Lawrence Bishnoi, SOI said they had nothing to do with him.
"We do not have anything to do with Bishnoi," clarified Vicky Middukhera, SOI, Chandigarh unit president.
The Students Organisation of Panjab University (SOPU), once a force to reckon with on the campus and had given eight presidents, has recently emerged with posters of leaders which say that Lawrence Bishnoi has been supporting it. Two posters of state presidents of Punjab and Haryana, featuring Sampat Nehra and Tinu Haryana, shows support from Bishnoi.—TNS
