Patiala, March 2
A 34-year-old man was killed after he was hit by a speeding car at Gagan Chowk in Rajpura city on Saturday. The deceased was identified as Rajeev Kumar, a resident of Chajju Majri of Rajpura block in Patiala. The police have booked an unidentified driver in this connection.
“Rajeev Kumar was standing on the roadside at Gagan Chowk when a speeding car hit him from back injuring him seriously. He was rushed to a hospital, but doctors declared him brought dead,” said investigation officer Angrej Singh.
“An eyewitness has noted down number of the speeding car. We are trying to trace the vehicle and identify its driver,” the investigaion officer added.
The police have registered a case under Sections 279 (Rash driving) and 304-A (Causing death due to negligence) of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) at the Rajpua city police station in this connection.
