STF gets another 3-day remand of SI
Mohali, August 2
The local court today extended the police remand of suspended sub-inspector Sukhminder Singh for three more days.
The Special Task Force (STF), which had produced Sukhminder after his two-day police remand ended, asked the judge to extend his remand as they had to recover the money he extorted from a drug peddler.
Sources said during interrogation, Sukhminder has levelled allegations against an inspector level officer of the Crime Investigating Agency (CIA). He alleged that he had accepted the money on behalf of his seniors.
The STF, Assistant Inspector General (AIG), Harpreet Singh, said the suspended SI has been taken on another three-day remand to verify the allegations made by him.
Three days ago, the STF had arrested Sukhminder, who was posted as in-charge at of Saneta police post, for allegedly extorting money from Kuldip Singh, a drug peddler, on the pretext of dropping charges against him.
