Students showcase talent at IT fest

Chandigarh, March 21

The Post Graduate Department of Computer Science, Sri Guru Gobind Singh (SGGS) College, Sector 26, organised an inter-college IT fest, “TECHBEATS 2K18”,  on Wednesday.

The inaugural session was presided over by Gurdev Singh Brar, president, Sikh Educational Society (SES); Col Jasmer Singh Bala (retd), secretary, SES; chief guest ML Raina, former chairperson, Department of English, Panjab University.

The welcome speech was delivered by Dr Jyoti Lamba, principal, SGGS College; and Prof Gurpreet Kaur, dean, Computer Science, SGGS College, introduced the fest to those present.

Various colleges of the tricity participated in various technical events. In Photoshop mania, PGGC-11, Chandigarh, stood first while SGGS College, Sector 26, stood second. In developer’s challenge, SAS IT and Research, Mohali, stood first and a team of the Department of Computer Science and Applications, Panjab University, was second.

In designer’s paradise, PGGC-11 was the winner while second position was bagged by SD College, Sector 32. In debuggers’ zone, PGGC-11 stood first and team of the Department of Computer Science and Applications, Panjab University, bagged the second position.

In ad-mad show, SGGS College, Sector 26, was the winner. In dance pe chance, SGGS College, Sector 26, was the winner.

In collage-making, the first position was bagged by PGGC-11 and second by MCM DAV, Sector 36. In the e-waste carving, a team from the PU stood first and Dev Samaj College of Education for Women, Sector 36, was second.

In face-painting, the PGGCG, Sector 11, stood first and SGGS College, Sector 26, bagged the second position. — TNS
