Survey of India maps Abhaypur, Baltana area

The Survey of India concluded the mapping of the Abhaypur-Baltana border dispute area with the help of revenue officials of both Punjab and Haryana and will soon submit its report to the Punjab and Haryana High Court.
According to the documents shown in the presence of revenue officers of Punjab and Haryana and the Survey of India, Haryana’s share is being reported in Punjab. According to revenue officers of Panchkula, more than five acres of Panchkula has come under Punjab, while one acre of Punjab has been found in Panchkula.
The owners of the houses on the disputed site are eagerly waiting for the report of the Survey of India that had done the mapping of the area on the directions of the Punjab and Haryana High Court. More than 200 houses have been constructed in areas falling under Abhaypur and Baltana areas of Haryana and Punjab, respectively. It will now be difficult for both Haryana and Punjab to take possession of their land.
The controversy over the disputed land had come to the fore when Bhagwant Singh, a resident of Baltana, and others had filed a petition in the high court after the Panchkula Municipal Corporation had constructed a boundary wall near the CID office. The high court while directing both Mohali and Panchkula districts to submit a report within two months had asked these to deposit equal share of the cost of the project with the Survey of India.
District Revenue Officer, HSVP, Rampal Kataria, said they as well as their counterparts in Mohali had already submitted the site plan to the Survey of India and the national agency had completed its field work. He said the Survey of India would soon submit its report to the high court and added that the national agency had not disclosed the contents of the report to them.
