Scientists from the city-based Terminal Ballistics Research Laboratory (TBRL) have been conferred two awards for self-reliance and contribution to development of technology for the strategic sector.

Defence Research and Development Organisation’s Agni Award for Self-Reliance was awarded to TBBL Director Dr Manjit Singh and his team consisting of AC Sharma and other scientists for successfully establishing compliance test methodologies and protocols matching international standards.

These test procedures and infrastructure have enabled the TBRL to evaluate all missile warheads and ammunitions of armed forces. This will help to ensure the safety of warheads and ammunitions during storage, transport and usage.

The second award for strategic contribution was given to Arun Aggarwal and his team consisting Prateek Kishore and others for design, development and induction of high-voltage pulse discharge systems. The new high-voltage system is much smaller in size and weight than the earlier systems in use and this will help towards miniaturising the warheads.
