Test centre manager booked for cheating

The UT police have registered a case of cheating against a person running an examination centre for M/s Pearson India Education Services Private Limited in Chandigarh. He used to allow fake candidates to appear for the exam on behalf of original candidates.
The company is into the business of conducting various computer-based examinations for clients across the globe meant for purposes such as admissions.
According to the police, Shantanu Kumar, a representative of Pearson VUE, a business division of M/s Pearson India Education Services Private Limited, Noida, Uttar Pradesh, alleged that Mandeep Sethi, manager at the test centre located at Elante Mall, Elante Offices Block, Industrial Area, cheated the company by conspiring in allowing fake candidates to appear at the test centres.
The police said the original candidate first used to enter the test centre. After sometime, the candidate used to visit the washroom where the fake candidate was already present.
“The fake candidate then used to return to the test centre and appear for the examination impersonating as the original candidate,” police sources said.
The modus operandi of the suspec was established through CCTV cameras installed at the centre. A case of cheating and criminal conspiracy has been registered against the suspect at the Industrial Area police station.
