Three held for impersonation during exam

Almost a month after the UT police booked a test centre manager of M/s Pearson India Education Services Private Limited in Chandigarh, who used to allow fake candidates to appear for the exam on behalf of original candidates, the cops arrested three suspects in the case.

Those suspects have been identified as Sukhmander Singh, alias, Bhangu, a travel agent based in Khanna, Amit Gill a resident of Sector 48 and Mandeep Singh Mann, a resident of Nayagaon, both partners of Rightway Tour and Travel pvt ltd who have their office at Elante.

The police said the accused had facilitated candidates to cheat by permitting proxy candidates in PTE-Academic (Pearson Test of English). Meanwhile, the test centre manager is presently absconding.

Complainant in the case Shantanu Kumar, a representative of Pearson VUE, a business division of M/s Pearson India Education Services Private Limited, Noida, Uttar Pradesh, had alleged that Mandeep Sethi, manager at the test centre located at Elante Mall, Elante Offices Block, Industrial Area, cheated the company by conspiring in allowing fake candidates to appear at the test centres.

The police said the original candidate first used to enter the test centre. After sometime, the candidate used to visit the washroom where the fake candidate was already present. The fake candidate then used to return to the test centre and appear for the examination impersonating as the original candidate.

The modus operandi of the suspect was established through CCTV cameras installed at the centre. A case of cheating and criminal conspiracy was registered against the suspect.

The original candidate first used to enter the test centre. After sometime, the candidate used to visit the washroom where the fake candidate was already present. The fake candidate then used to return to the test centre and appear for the examination, impersonating as the original candidate.
