Divyank Bhatt topped the boys’ U-13 category on the concluding day of the Mohali District Chess Championship at Smart Wonders School, Sector 71, here today. Bhatt was followed by Abhijay Pandey in second place. Arjun Bhaskar scored three points to win the open category title.
Pratham Puri (2.5 points) outclassed Vibhushit in a thrilling tie-breaker to win the U-25 title, while Ishan Gupta (3 points) beat Anmol Nagpal to lift the U-19 trophy.
In the boys’ U-17 category, Raghujit finished at the top, while Naren Gupta followed him in second place.
Guneeta dominated the girls’ U-9 category. Jasmeen ended in second place. The boys’ U-9 title went to Ishan, while Harshvir secured the second position.
Ravi Khullar and Ishrat finished first and second, respectively, in the girls’ U-11 category, while Bhavneet topped the list in the boys’ U-11 category. She was followed by Vanik.
Kudrat Preet Kar clinched the girls’ U-13 title. Lavanya Wadhwa had to content with a second place finish.
In the boys’ U-15 category, Arsh Gupta sealed the title, while Ayush was adjudged the runners-up. Geenat and Shrishti Antil claimed first and second spots, respectively, in the girls’ U-17category.
