The District Health Department opened a Tobacco Cessation Centre on Thursday at the Government Mata Kaushalya Hospital on the Punjab State No Tobacco Day. Free cessation medicines, including Nicotine gums and patches, will be provided at the centre.
In a seminar organised at the ITI district nodal officer, Dr Malkit Singh, apprised students of the harmful effects of tobacco consumption. A team of health officials conducted raids and issued challans to 13 people under Sections 4 and 6, COTPA Act, and also collected Rs 1,850 as fine today. — TNS
