MOHALI:Top seed Jashan Gupta outplayed Aryan Aggarwal to advance to the main draw of the boys U-14 category on the opening day of the Roots-AITA U-14 and U-16 National Ranking Tennis Championship.

Top seed Jashan Gupta outplayed Aryan Aggarwal to advance to the main draw of the boys U-14 category on the opening day of the Roots-AITA U-14 and U-16 National Ranking Tennis Championship. 

Gupta registered a 6-2 6-1 win in the final qualifying round. Second seed Jivaj Chawla defeated Samarpit Bhatia without conceding a game, while third seed Udhbhav Kaplish beat Aditya Rathore 6-0 6-2. 

Karan Aulak also moved into the main draw by defeating Hardik Khanduja 6-1 6-3. Vikramdeep Singh registered a 6-0 6-2 win over Piyush Kumar. Kartikeya Saini defeated Parth Mehra 6-4 6-2, Yash Aggarwal beat Pradumin 6-1 6-2 and Varyam Singh overpowered Abhishek Luthra 7-5 6-4.
