The Traffic Rules Awareness Centre (TRAC), a first in the state, has been inaugurated at the District Court Complex, here, by Justice TPS Mann and Justice Avneesh Jhingan, the Administrative Judges of the Patiala Sessions Division.
Sanjiv Berry, District and Sessions Judge; Showkat Ahmad Parray, Additional Deputy Commissioner (Development), Patiala; S Bhupathi, SSP; Arun Gupta, Additional District and Sessions Judge-I; Raman Kumar, ACJM; Poonam Bansal, CJM; Ashish Kumar Bansal, CJM/Secretary, DLSA; and other judges of the Patiala Sessions Division were among those others present.
Berry said the centre was the brainchild of the Administrative Judges of Patiala Sessions Division and it would be a one-stop facility for traffic-related matters. Traffic violators coming to the court for challan hearings would be provided awareness of traffic rules at the centre through audio visual means.
Afterwards, the challans would be disposed of by the Judicial Magistrate at the centre itself. The facility would go a long way in making people aware of traffic rules. The centre has been started with the support of the district police.
BS Bhullar, president, District Bar Association, Patiala, executive members of the association and other advocates and officials of the district were also present.
