Fatehgarh Sahib: A week-long vocational training on poultry farming’ for farmers, farm women and rural youth, organised by the Krishi Vigyan Kendra (KVK), Fatehgarh Sahib, concluded on Monday. Hundreds of farmers from Fatehgarh Sahib, Patiala and Ludhiana participated in the training programme. Dr Vipan Kumar Rampal, Deputy Director (Training), said the participants were enlightened about the importance of the poultry sector and were given knowledge on various aspects of poultry farming with an aim to encourage them to opt for poultry farming as an allied business to boost their income. Dr Ajay Singh, Assistant Professor, Animal Sciences, spoke on various aspects of poultry farming. OC
Man found dead in Gharuan
Kharar: The Gharuan police found an elderly man dead on Monday. Head Constable Sarabjit Singh said the body was found near a dhaba at the back of Chandigarh University. He said no information regarding the dead had been received so far. The police did not recover any identification proof from him. The body has been shifted to the Kharar Civil Hospital for identification. OC
Railway police recover body
Kharar: The Government Railway Police (GRP) recovered a body from a rail track near the Kharar railway station on Sunday. ASI Manohar Lal, in-charge of the local railway police post, said the track was clear as soon as a train left for Una at 9 am. Later, the body was found on the track. He said no identification proof was found. The police post in-charge said they did not know whether it was an accident or suicide. At present, the body has been kept at the Civil Hospital, Kharar, for identification. OC
