Chandigarh, October 3
A Sarangpur-based tutor was found guilty of repeatedly raping a 16-year-old girl at his house by a local court today. Nischal Sadana, alias Ashok Sharma, was arrested by the police on a complaint of the victim’s mother who had caught the accused raping her daughter. The quantum of sentence will be announced on October 6.
Then 42, the accused was working as a tailor and also took tuitions in Sarangpur and was living under a fake identity. The victim, then in Class IX, was one of his students who took tuitions from the accused.
The incident came to light on May 9 when the mother of the minor girl went to pay the tuition fee to the tutor. She did not find the girl in the room where the class used to be conducted though other children were there. She then went to her house thinking she might have come back home. However, the Sarangpur government school student was not there. Her mother returned to her tuition centre to enquire about her whereabouts when she saw her slippers outside an adjoining room. In the meantime, her daughter came out of the room and told her mother that she had been raped and threatened by her tutor. She alleged that she was raped thrice by Sadana.
Following this, a case was registered the next day at the Sarangpur police station under Sections 341, 376 (2), 506 and 423 of the IPC and Sections 4, 6 and 8 of the POCSO Act. However, by that time the accused had run away. Four days later, he was arrested from Gurugram. The accused, who allegedly had many love affairs, was married thrice in Punjab. He divorced his first two wives and is a proclaimed offender in the dowry death case of his third wife in Phagwara. Sadana was staying with his 10-year-old daughter from his second marriage at Sarangpur on a fake name (Ashok Sharma) and had Aadhaar, residential and other proofs of the place. He was working as a tailor and also took tuitions.
