Two couples with matrimonial disputes reunited in Lok Adalat

The National Lok Adalat here facilitated reunion of two couples, who had an ongoing matrimonial dispute for the past few years. 

The court managed to solve dispute of the two couples in which husbands, who were real brothers and married to two real sisters. The husbands had filed case seeking divorce, but with the intervention of District and Sessions Judge Archana Puri were brought on a single table. Both sisters were sent home along with their husbands from the court complex today. 

One couple was married in 2009 and had two daughters while the other couple, who tied the knot in 2004, had two sons. 

In another such matrimonial dispute, the couple had two daughters, one of whom was major and the other minor. The husband had filed a divorce petition in the case and with the intervention of the Bench of Lok Adalat, the matter was resolved and a prolonged litigation ended. The husband also agreed to make fixed deposits of Rs 11 lakh each in the name of two daughters. 

 Other than the matrimonial cases, a number of matters pertaining to land acquisition were disposed off by the Court of the Additional District and Sessions Judge, Monika Goyal, where an award of Rs 61,23,45,893 in 230 cases were passed. 

As per the directions of National Legal Services Authority, the National Lok Adalat was organised by the District Legal Services Authority, SAS Nagar, (Mohali), today to deal with the cases related to various categories.

24 Benches constituted 

In all, 24 Benches were constituted in Mohali in which 3,146 cases were taken up for hearing out of which 852 were disposed off by virtue of compromise and award of Rs 63,58,74,1308 here today.
