Unauthorised drug rehab centre sealed

The District Health Department sealed an ‘unauthorised’ private drug rehabilitation centre in the Dhudhan Sadhan area on Thursday. The Health Department also sent 18 of the 22 inmates to their homes after talking to their parents while four were shifted to the Saket Hospital, Patiala.
Sources in the Health Department said Guru Kirpa Foundation Drug Counselling and Rehabilitation was raided on a tip-off received by the Civil Surgeon, Dr Manjit. As health officials found that the centre was being run without licence so they sealed it in the presence of its owner Inderjeet Singh.
“We sealed the centre as the owner did not have a licence to run it. I will be writing to the Health Department and the police to take action against the centre owner,” the Civil Surgeon said.
Deputy Medical Commissioner, Dr MS Dhaliwal, SMOs, Dr Dudhan Sadhan and Dr Bhupinder Kaur, Dr Rahul Singh (psychiatrist) and District Social Security Officer Amandeep Verma were also part of the raiding party.
