On the demand of Kalka MLA Latika Sharma to separate Pinjore and Kalka from the Panchkula Municipal Corporation, the Urban Local Bodies Department, Haryana, has sought a report from the Divisional Commissioner, Ambala. In the communication, it was stated that the report should be submitted within 15 days.
The Panchkula Municipal Corporation was set up in March 2010 by merging the municipal council of Panchkula and the municipal committees of Pinjore and Kalka.
Recently, Latika Sharma had written a letter to Haryana Chief Minister Manohar Lal Khattar in which she had submitted that under the Municipal Corporation, there is no development in Kalka and Pinjore. Therefore, the Panchkula MC should be dissolved and Pinjore and Kalka should be made municipal committees.
Thereafter, the letter was forwarded to the Urban Local Bodies Department for their comments.
She had submitted that there was nobody from the Panchkula Municipal Corporation in Kalka and Panchkula to redress the grievances of residents. For every single work, residents had to go to Panchkula, which is difficult for them.
In her letter, the Kalka MLA had submitted that despite paying taxes to the government, the residents are facing problems such as non-functional street lights, poor water supply and absence of sewerage lines. Whenever she went to meet people residing in the MC limits, they always raised these problems, she had submitted.
