Chandigarh, March 29
From April 1, the UT Excise and Taxation Department will issue liquor permits online.
The department has started the trial run of the project, which will facilitate the owners of liquor vends, restaurants and bars in getting the permit.
Deputy Commissioner-cum-Excise and Taxation Commissioner Mandip Singh Brar said the decision to start online permission was started on UT Administrator VP Singh Badnore’s direction. The trial run will be completed in the next two days and the facility will be available from April 1.
Brar said this would also eliminate the need of licensee to physically visit the office, thereby promoting transparency and ease of doing business.
Meanwhile, the department has also invited bids for the 17 vends which were not taken up during the e-auction recently. The reserve price of these vends has been fixed at Rs 45 crore. The bidders can apply till April 4. The financial bids will be opened on April 5.
