Vaishnavi Adkar continued her impressive run in the CLTA-AITA Super Series Tennis Tournament as she won both her semifinal matches with relative ease today to stay in contention for twin titles.
In the girls’ U-16 competition, Vaishnavi blanked Suryanshi Tanwar 6-0 6-0 to set up the title clash with Sanvi Ahluwalia, who registered a 6-4 6-1 win over Janani Ramesh in the semis.
Vaishnavi then drubbed Deepalakshmi Vanaraja 6-1 6-0 to march into the U-18 final, where she will meet Vanshika Choudhary.
Vanshika packed off Kavya Khirwar 6-1 6-1 in the semifinals.
Mixed day for Deep
Top seed Deep Munim, meanwhile, downed eighth seed Khush Sharma 6-1 6-4 in the boys’ U-16 semifinals. In the final, Munim will face Sukhpreet Singh Jhoje, who came from behind to beat seventh seed Jitin Kumar Chetry in a marathon three-setter.
Jhoje lost the opening set 6-7(2), but came back strongly to win the next two sets 6-4 6-3 to stay alive in the competition.
Munim, though, bowed 1-6 2-6 to top seed Krishan Hooda in the boys’ U-18 semifinals.
Sushant Dabas thrashed Divanshu Hooda 6-0 6-0 to set up the final date with Krishan Hooda.
