Vishvarajsinh’s ton helps Saurashtra claim 155-run lead on third day

A fine century by Vishvarajsinh Jadeja (108 off 180 balls) helped Saurashtra to turn the conditions in their favour as the side gained a 155-run lead against hosts Punjab, on the penultimate day of the ongoing Col CK Nayudu Trophy, at Dhruv Pandove Stadium in Patiala, on Sunday. Jadeja’s important contribution made the visitors to end the third day on 253/8.
Resuming from their overnight total of 60 runs for no loss, the visitors received the first shook of the day early today. The overnight unbeaten pair of Yash Parekh and Kevin Jivrajani added 10 runs to the total.
Jivrajani was the first victim of the day as he was claimed by Arshdeep Singh on 32 off 122 balls, with three boundaries and a six. Taranggohel joined Parekh but the partnership lasted only for 14 runs. Parekh (35 off 136 balls, with five boundaries) was the next man to go after being claimed by Brar. Thereafter, the side lost two quick wickets.
Both Taranggohel (10) and Samarth Vyas (0) fall to Brar on team’s total reading of 89/4. Niket Joshi then joined Jadeja and the duo provided some relief to the innings by raising a 33-run partnership for the fifth wicket. However, Brar strike again as he accounted for Joshi (10 off 86 balls).
M Manavendra then in company of Jadeja came up with a crucial 72-run partnership. Manavendra added 16 runs to the total before falling into the trap of Brar on the team’s total of 194. Parth Bhut joined Jadeja to take the total to 238 with raising a 44-run partnership. Jadeja was claimed by Jass Inder.
He posted 108 off 180 balls, with 14 boundaries and a six. Bhut then in company of Vivek Agath took the total to 253 before Arshdeep broke this partnership. He was the eighth man out after posting 23 off 68 balls, with two boundaries. Agath remained unbeaten on seven to close the day on 253/8 with a 155-run lead.
Brar was the pick of the bowlers as he claimed 4/40, while Arshdeep took 3/64. Jass Inder claimed 1/36 for Punjab.
