The District Consumer Disputes Redressal Forum has directed Vodafone Mobile Services Limited to pay Rs 10,000 to a local resident for deficiency in service and causing mental agony and harassment to him.

As per the complainant, Bharat Verma of Sector 19, Panchkula, he was using three pre-paid Vodafone numbers ported out of Idea, another cellular service provider, a few months ago. The numbers were activated in his wife’s name. Besides, he also ported two numbers in his name. After activation, he had sent a DND activation request from all the five numbers. However, he still received calls or messages.

He downloaded the DND App of TRAI and reported a few messages or calls. Later, he got a message from Vodafone that his DND service was not activated and need to send a message to 1909. As per TRAI and Vodafone officials, his DND was activated. To cross-check, he sent the message at the given number to activate the DND service but was surprised to get a reply that the service was already activated.

The complainant said he was facing a huge call drop and network issues. Vodafone failed to resolve the issues despite his repeated complaints.
