Wadhera, Azad to play in U-19 Challenger Trophy

Chandigarh’s Arjun Azad and Ludhiana lad Nehal Wadhera have been included in India Red and India Green squads, respectively, for the upcoming India U-19 Challenger Trophy.

The names were announced by BCCI on Saturday after the junior selection committee met in Kolkata to pick the 

four teams — India Blue, India Red, India Green and India Yellow.

The tournament is scheduled to be held in Lucknow from November 10 to 16, with India Red playing India Blue and India Green squaring off with India Yellow on the opening day of the championship.

India Red will be led by wicketkeeper-batsman Vedant Murkar, while India Green will be spearheaded by Nitish Kumar Reddy. India Blue and India Yellow will be captained by Pradosh Ranjan Paul and Shubhang Hegde, respectively. 

Wadhera had earlier played for India U-19 in the Youth Test against hosts Sri Lanka. He was also part of the India team for the U-19 Asia Cup.  — TNS/Agencies
