Experts said non-invasive ventilation - use of breathing support administered through a face mask or nasal mask was a lifesaving modality.

They said interventions like these may seem simple but were not easy to accomplish. Choosing the right modality for the right patient has always been the first step.

Dr Vijay Hadda from the AIIMS, New Delhi; Dr Akashdeep from DMC, Ludhiana; Dr Amit Mandal from Fortis Hospital, Mohali; and Dr Himanshu Garg from Gurgaon, were the key speakers.

They said they were using these modalities on a day-to-day basis and have vast experience in accomplishing non-invasive ventilation.

The speakers encouraged the participants to use this modality on a regular basis. They stressed the importance of proper patient selection and regular monitoring of patients.

A workshop and hands-on training session was also conducted where the participants had an interactive session.
