The district president of the Chandigarh Youth Congress, Pradeep Kumar, said while the MC was  facing a shortage  of funds, the  Mayor  raised the demand for household items  from the  MC. He said   that is  why  Congress workers had brought a microwave for the Mayor. Pardeep Kumar said they requested the Mayor if he wanted any such thing, let it be known to the Youth Congress, instead of wasting the public money.

City Congress general secretary Harmail Kesri said on the one side, the Municipal Corporation was facing financial hardships, on the other, the Mayor was involved in such a splurge.
