The Ambala police have arrested a youth for raping a college student in Barara. The accused has been identified as Gurmail Singh, a resident of Yamunanagar.
In her complaint to the police, the victim, a resident of Yamunanagar, alleged that on September 26, there was a youth festival in her college in Barara. Around 2 pm, when she came out of the college, on the pretext of dropping her home, the accused asked her to sit in his car. The girl accepted the offer as she knew him. When they reached near Dosarka, the accused offered her some cold drink. She started feeling uncomfortable after drinking it. She alleged that the accused took her to a farmhouse in Duliyani village, thrashed and raped her. He also threatened her of dire consequences if she narrated the incident to anyone. She narrated the incident to her family in Yamunanagar on Friday and a case was registered at the Mullana police station on Saturday.
Barara DSP Sudhir Taneja said that on the complaint of the girl, the accused had been arrested and the matter was being investigated.
