Youth killed as bus hits hydra machine
Dera Bassi, June 21
An 18-year-old youth was killed while another sustained injuries when the hydra machine they were riding on was allegedly hit by a Haryana Roadways bus near Bhankarpur here on the intervening night of Thursday and Friday.
The deceased has been identified as Mursheed (18), a resident of Dappar, while the injured is Guddu Shah (22).
The hydra machine of the GMR company was on its way towards Dera Bassi from the Ambala side. A Haryana Roadways bus (HR 65 A 8252), which was also heading in the same direction, hit the machine from the rear end.
The bus rammed into an electricity pole, disrupting power supply to the area. A few bus passengers sustained minor bruises. The bus driver and conductor fled from the spot, sources said.
The sources said Mursheed, who was standing on the rear side of the hydra machine, and its driver Guddu Shah were rushed to the Civil Hospital, Dera Bassi, where doctors declared Mursheed brought dead. Guddu was referred to the GMCH, Sector 32, Chandigarh, where he is under treatment. — OC
