KHARAR: The zonal youth festival of IK Gujral Punjab Technical University (IKGPTU) began at Doaba Group of Colleges, Campus I, here today.

The zonal youth festival of IK Gujral Punjab Technical University (IKGPTU) began at Doaba Group of Colleges, Campus I, here today.

More than 30 colleges of South zone participated in the festival with enthusiasm. SMS Batth, chairman, Doaba Group of Colleges, Dr HS Batth, president, Doaba Khalsa Trust, SSS Sangha, managing vice-chairman, Ramanjit Kaur Batth, trustee, Doaba Group of Colleges, Navpreet Sangha, trustee, Doaba Group of Colleges were present on the occasion.

The lamp-lighting ceremony was done by the chief guest and other members of the management.

Speaking on the occasion, Dr RPS Bedi, Joint Registrar, IK Gujral Punjab Technical University, emphasised that along with academics, students should participate in co-curricular events so that their hidden talent could be brought out.

Dr Surinder Sharma, observer, IK Gujral Punjab Technical University, said the zonal youth festival was first started in 1958 as it was the best way to channelise the energy of youth.
