A woman resident of Zirakpur has lodged a complaint against a worker of the Chhatbir zoo for allegedly masturbating while staring at her and her friends. The incident came to light on Friday when the complainant, along with some of her women friends and kids, had gone to the zoo. In her complaint, the woman said while taking a round of the zoo, she noticed a strange movement of a worker, who was trying to hide himself. She said on noticing him again, she went up to him to check and was shocked to see the man masturbating. He then fled from the spot.
The complainant brought the matter to the notice of the Range Officer of the zoo, Makhan Singh, and also mentioned the entire incident on the suggestion/complaint register of the zoo.
The woman also alleged that when she approached the Range Officer and a guard, they both let the accused worker, Kaku, walk away, saying that they could not stop their zoo work because of the incident.
Makhan Singh said the woman had levelled allegations against Kaku, who denied having indulged in any such act. The Range Officer said an inquiry had been marked into the allegations.
According to sources, Kaku was deployed in a leopard enclosure and also worked as a multi-purpose worker. According to the authorities, Kaku was feeding animals around 3.30 pm.
The complainant was reportedly planning to the report the matter to the Zirakpur police station.
