Chandigarh, April 11

City golfer HS Kang carded a total of 151 to win the 19th PGA Cup — Punjab State Golf Championship at the Chandigarh Golf Club here on Thursday.

Sohum Vij from SEPTA, Chandimandir, finished a shot behind in second place, while Aaditya Gupta from PAP Golf Club, Jalandhar, occupied the third spot with a gross total of 153. 

In the net category, Parteet S Sekhon dominated the field with a total of 138. He was followed by Sonu (142) in second place, while Manoj Masih (143) bagged the third position.

Apramjit Singh of the Chandigarh Golf Club, meanwhile, won the longest drive award with 276 yard hit on the fourth hole.

Mandar Prashar, also from Chandigarh Golf Club, won the nearest to the pin competition on the 14th hole. He landed ball 13 feet seven inches far from the hole.

Out of 87 golfers who participated in the two-day competition, only 35, including four girls, made the half-way cut, which was applied at 9-over.
