Civic body sets up alternative shelters

Observing a flood-like situation in the city after a heavy rainfall, the Municipal Corporation established shelter homes here on Sunday.

Officials of the municipal town planning wing have been instructed to shift residents from dangerous buildings to these shelter homes. These homes have been set up at a marriage palace on 100 FT Road, Taj Palace on the Tarn Taran road, Hari Om Hotel and Restaurant at Putaligath, and Bhatrian Di Dharmshala at Pakki Gali near Sheranwala gate. — TNS

Interior areas inundated

  • Many interior areas of the walled city were inundated after rain on Sunday.

  • Some stretches, which have been dug up for repairs, have turned into muddy roads.

  • Vivek Vohra, a resident of Jattan Wali Gali, said, “The entire stretch from Katra Dullo to surrounding streets has been dug up. It has turned the muddy road into slush.”
