Civil Hospital gears up for NAHB assessment

Encouraged after receiving the best hospital in the state award under the Kayakalp Project, Jallianwala Bagh Martyrs Memorial Civil Hospital is now gearing up for the National Quality Assurance Certificate. The authorities plan to spend Rs 37 lakh for improving the quality of services at the hospital.
The assessment will be done by the National Accreditation Board for Hospitals and Healthcare Providers (NABH). The hospital will be given accreditation if it fulfills the criteria of quality as set by the NABH.
Senior medical officer Hardeep Singh Ghai said, “The objective is to bring the Civil Hospital at par with private hospitals. The local hospital has already been declared best in the state under Kayakalp and received cash award of Rs 50 lakh. Now our objective is to bring it at par with well known private hospitals.”
He said the hospital had already improved the system of disposal of bio-medical waste and presently was focusing on rain water harvesting. The hospital had received Kayakalp Award for maintaining cleanliness on its premises.
