CM inaugurates administrative complex of cluster university

Chief Minister Mehbooba Mufti on Saturday inaugurated the administrative complex of the Cluster University of Jammu (CLUJ) on the GGM Science College Campus here.

She also e-inaugurated buildings of various schools of the varsity housed in five constituent colleges.

After unveiling the building, Mehbooba dedicated it to the university. With the opening of the administrative complex, the entire CLUJ administration would now function under one roof. So far, the vice chancellor, registrar, controller of examination, and deans were working from separate places.

Minister for Education, Finance, Labour and Employment Altaf Bukhari, Minister of State for Education Priya Sethi and Principal Secretary, Higher Education, Asgar Samoon were also present on the occasion.

Five other buildings that were e-inaugurated by the CM included the School of Sciences on the GGM Science College Campus, School of Social Science at Government SPMR College of Commerce, School of Teacher Education at College of Education, School of Humanities and Liberal Arts at MAM College and School of Engineering and Computer Technology at Government College for Women, Gandhi Nagar.

Mehbooba also released the CLUJ’s inaugural handbook, “You & CLUJ,” which offers a kaleidoscopic view of the newly established varsity.

The CM stayed at the venue for around 20 minutes but didn’t say anything. She only inaugurated the buildings and released the handbook. Later, she left for Srinagar.

Earlier in her welcome address, Vice Chancellor Prof Anju Bhasin welcomed the Chief Minister and others. She said the basic purpose of the university was to move ahead and ensure students’ success, expanding enrolment strategies, enhancing academic instructions, fostering greater focus on research, bolstering community partnership and maximising human potential.
