Coaching institutes celebrate, award their achievers

Chandigarh, July 9

Coaching institutes in the city today had a date with their achievers. While one institute rewarded its toppers with cash awards and held a cultural programme, the other asked its UPSC topper to interact with her juniors.

Around 126 students were awarded prizes which included Rs 2 lakh to Mahek Singhal (AIR-14 in AIIMS and AIR 97 in NEET), Rs 1 lakh each to Navtej Mangat (AIR-40 in AIIMS) and Ishmeet Kaur (AIR -41 in AIIMS) and Rs 51,000 to Arushi Jain (AIR-78 in AIIMS and AIR-79 in NEET). 

Hiya Kwatra has been selected to represent India in France for the coveted International Earth Science Olympiad, selection for which is done by a three stage examination process conducted by the Geological Society of India. Hiya was awarded a certificate, a trophy and Rs 1 lakh. It was followed by a cultural performance by the students and teachers.

Anuj Malik an AIR-16, UPSC 2016, and the highest scorer in general studies, held an interactive session at her academy with the aspiring civil service candidates. Malik is an electronics and communications Engineer who tasted success in her very first attempt at the Civil Services Examination.

Malik gave important tips to students on how to write the Mains and discussed her journey which culminated in success at the UPSC Examination. She also highlighted the basic format of UPSC examination and strategies to succeed in the civil services.
