Amritsar, March 1
Officials of the Punjab School Education Board (PSEB) often claim to have made appropriate arrangements to keep a check on cheating during examination but the ground reality is the antithesis.
According to information, a few men entered Government Senior Secondary School, Othian, near Amritsar, during the environmental science exam here today. They allegedly misbehaved with the staff members during and post examination. The school authorities have written to the local police authorities for action.
Assistant Sub-Inspector (ASI) Pragat Singh from the Rajasansi police station said, “We have received a complaint. We will ensure that there is adequate security for the upcoming examination.”
Meanwhile, Kuldeep Singh, a resident of Ramdas, also wrote to the Education Department regarding “cheating” during English examination for Class XII on Wednesday. He mentioned in his complaint that he came across illegal activities at two schools.
Sources say the district authorities have taken steps to prevent cheating at Government Senior Secondary School, Atwal where instances of cheating have been reported.
District Education Officer, Secondary, Sunita Kiran could not be reached for comments.
It is worth mentioning that the education board has taken multiple steps to curb cheating, such as installation of CCTV cameras and change of exam centres for both private and government schools.
