As part of a joint initiative by AKUMS, a factory based in SIDCUL, and the Indian Red Cross Society, a total of 1,032 blood units were collected during a blood donation camp held at the factory premises.
AKUMS director Sandeep Jain, who himself donated blood, said mass participation of firm employees at the donation camp reflects the working environment and attitude of the employees.
“Blood donation is a noble act, which gives immense satisfaction to the donor and is a life-saving one for the recipient. If such institutions organise blood donation camps on an annual basis, it would surely bridge the gap of blood requirement in our country,” said Dr Naresh Chaudhari.
“Anyone falling in the age bracket of 18-60 years should regularly donate blood as on one hand, it saves the life of the needy, and on the other, it has a positive impact on the donor’s body. One remains healthy, blood purifies internally and the feeling of saving one’s life is one which no monetary benefits can provide,” added Chaudhari.
