As many as 4,507 youth registered their names at a job fest organised by the Labour and Employment Department today at Kangar village in Haroli Assembly segment.
Of these, 1,520 were shortlisted for jobs in 138 industrial units of the state.
Around 126 B.Tech graduates, 45 B.Pharma and M.Pharma, 46 M.Sc, 90 graduate degree holders in other disciplines, 195 polytechnic diploma holders and 506 ITI certificate holders, besides 512 having education up to school level were present.
Industries and Labour Minister Mukesh Agnihotri inaugurated the job fest.
He said 12 such fairs were organised during the last one year in different parts of the state to bring employment opportunities.
He said besides this, 162 campus interviews had been organised, in which industrial houses having their units in the state, had employed 6,802 youth.
Talking about the skill development scheme initiated by the state government at a cost of Rs 500 crore, Agnihotri said Rs 100 crore was targeted to be spent every year under the programme, adding that 75,000 youth had been benefited till date.
He said Rs 42 lakh had been sanctioned for the modernisation of Una district employment office. Youth were also given online career guidance and vocational counseling by the department, he added.
Rajinder Singh, Director, Industries, Amit Kashyap, Labour Commissioner, SS Guleria, Managing Director of Small Industries Development Corporation, DC Abhishek Jain, SP Anupam Sharma and ADM Rajesh Kumar Maria were also present on the occasion.
