Chhat Bir, June 21
A record number of visitors visited the Mahendra Chaudhary Zoological Park, known as the Chhat Bir zoo, today.
Sources said over 10,000 visitors thronged the zoo. The zoo management also had a record sale of Rs 3.86 lakh, sources said.
Manish Kumar, field director at the zoo, was not available for comments. Sources, however, claimed that the rush was due to Sunday. Last Sunday, the zoo had a sale of Rs 3.59 lakh.
The staff had a tough time in handling the crowd that started gathering at the ticket counter and the main gate of the zoo early this morning. The battery-operated vehicles to ferry the visitors inside the zone fell short of the demand. The visitors had to wait for two to three hours to take the vehicles, resulting in chaos at the main gate of the zoo.
The similar was the situation outside the lion safari where the visitors were put to great hardships as the contractor was having just two buses to take the visitors inside the safari.
The visitors demanded that the number of buses should be increased.
