Residents of 12 villages who had deferred their dharna on June 5, today decided to resume it tomorrow at Dhanana village of the district.
Dhanana village, which is dominated by the Jat community, was the epicentre of the Jat reservation agitation in the district in February.
In a new development, members of Brahmin, Jangra and Sen communities too had come forward in support of the Jat agitation .
Addressing residents of 12 villages at Dhanana village, Rajmal Subedar, president of Jat khap-84, who presided over the function said that the decision to restart the dharna was taken aftera consensus was reached among the villagers.
Village-level committees had been formed to look after the protesters from their respective villages.
Rajesh Sharma and Ramkumar Jangra from Brahmin and Jangra communities, respectively, said they had pledged support to the peaceful agitation being carried out by Jat community.
Alleging backstabbing by the government, Kuldeep Kumar, a Jat leader from Dhanana, said the government had assured that cases registered against Jat leaders for arson and violence during the February stir would be withdrawn but it was not done.
