14.24 lakh Hindus in Dehradun

The religious census released by the Union Government for 2011 shows that the population of Hindus in the Dehradun district is around 14 lakh (14,24,916), which includes 7,47,584 men and 6,77,332 women.

Placed at the second position, the population of Muslims in the district is around two lakh (2,02,057), out of which the number of men is 1,07,449 and women 94,608.

The Sikhs in the city are around 36,000 (36,454), including 19,093 men and 17,361 women.

The population of Christians in the city is around 13,000 (13,416). This includes 6,656 men and 6,760 women.

Further, the Buddhist population in the city is around 11,000 (11,778), which includes 7,215 men and 4,563 women.

Meanwhile, the status of women continues to be better in rural areas in comparison to the urban areas.
